Jordy Saravia

I am originally from southern Louisiana where I learned how to survive 100% humidity, yearly hurricane evacuations, and driving a lawnmower to school. Growing up, I played drums for progressive and hardcore metal bands (pretentious and very obscure, you probably haven’t heard of them), while also being a huge percussion band nerd through college. After completing graduate school in New Orleans, I moved to Memphis in 2013 for a postdoctoral fellowship at UTHSC. 

 In 2016, I joined the Department of Immunology at St. Jude, and today I serve as “Scientist” in that same department with a research focus on immunometabolism. I recently joined the St. Jude band as the drummer, and I am excited to be part of the group. I am confident that my previous metal music skills of double bass fills and forced half-time will translate smoothly into the likes of Stevie Wonder and Hall and Oates.
